In his youth he had helped his uncle with his but promptly forgot about the trouble when he had been handed "The Magic Box" on a plate during his moments of unemployment. But now setting up "Pandora's Box" (It had seemed fitting when he was in the Hellhole now.) was more tiring then he would willing admit and it was taking longer then he liked too. That's why when he had turned from the re-shelving to see it was six O'clock he had mentally berated himself. He shouldn't let such things make him skip lunch and be late for dinner that wasn't good for his health and he would need to be in top shape to train a new Slayer from scratch. His refrigerator was completely empty and even were it not the lack of oven for three more days posed quite a problem, so shrugging on a coat he stepped out of the shop, took a deep breath of afternoon air and locked up before making his was into the town in search of way....and some way to satisfy this unbearable caffeine craving.
He had heard the riverside walk was particularly beautiful and following the signs he made his way to it. Surely one of the areas most popular areas would have a few nice restaurants. Once again his luck didn't fail him and as he arrived at the river he took a few moments to admire the beautiful barges traveling up and down. Moving down the promenade, he spotted a warm red restaurant that boasted lamb and steak dinners and English tea. His eyebrow raised and though he knew that the Americans were terrible for English tea some tea was better then no tea and made his way over selecting a two man table outside under the golden colored canopy. The menu was extensive and as he poured over it he made a mental note to return tomorrow as well as though he was craving lamb tonight, the pork sounded exceptional.
After a few minutes a cheerful young waitress took his order and skipped off arriving back barely five minutes later with his tea. As he thanked her he mentally sighed. Tea leaves took far longer then five minutes so this was no doubt bags, nice but only depending on the brand. He mixed in his milk and sugar (It was necessary with Breakfast tea, which was what this was.) and calmly took a sip resisting the urge to gag at the taste. If this was what the American thought good English tea was they were sadly mistaken. He once again reminded himself that some tea was better then none and forced himself to think that soon he would be able to brew his own tea at home. After all he could be drinking coffee which wasn't a drink so much as a taste-bud killing addiction. No Giles only drank that when desperate it had nothing soothing or pleasurable about it just the rush of caffeine....perhaps he should buy some before starting work tomorrow. However he would be even more tired at the end of the day but he might get more done... Icey blue eyes glanced about, skin seemingly porcelain the warmth to it brought by the sun alone. Without speaking to a soul he took a seat where he had a view of the street adjusting how he'd sat to ensure his guns were easy access. Then silently he pushed his braids back from his shoulders. One elegantly snaked around his hand slightly before falling loose.
He glanced up as the waitress approached. He was here regularly enough that he didn't need to look at the menu. "The usual please, can you make the steak even rarer by the way please?" he enquired. His voice was soft, and well modulated, a slight hint of a faint English accent to it. "Oh and I'll have the Green tea infused with Lemon and Ginger if you will," he added on. He knew it was one of few drinks they almost managed to make taste nice. Almost.
Carefully with that done he pulled out a small book and a pen, as well as a map that was obviously well worn. Quietly he flicked through the book, that was obviously a journal as he started to run his finger down it. He was referring to the map frequently as he worked through the list circling some of the notes. He was setting up for his nightly patrol.
As the waitress returned with his requested tea, he slipped both journal and map away. Ice eyes raised up, and softly he uttered his thanks as he poured himself some tea. Slowly he took a sip giving a slight curl of his upper lip as he did so, predominantly in disgust.

He wondered with an idyll mind where the Scoobies were right now. They had given him a mobile phone as he left but the darn thing was still trapped down the bottom of some box that Giles had chucked it in after the bloody thing had bleeped at him for ten minutes straight. As the sun began to set slowly he silently regretted leaving them. I twas strange how he had craved the silence of the libraries, but now the silence of the new shop only seemed to crush them. He was tempted to invite them up but bringing them away from their lives would be silly especially with each on of them as such an important moment in their lives. His thoughts drifted especially to Willow only recently brought down from her craze after the death of Tara and resolved with himself to at least invite her for a weekend. Escaping the memories would be important for her and such a crucial stage.
As though a haze had lifted from his eyes Giles removed himself from his thoughts enough to notice things around him again. The sun had sunk the tiniest bit lower but in the cafe not much had changed, well bar the sudden arrival of another gentleman to the establishment. There was only Giles, him and two couples in the place, but the shocking white...no silver braids made him stand out. Giles looked back at his cup feeling guilty for staring and scowling himself lightly. He would have counted such a rare hair-color as something caused by magic, but recently he had seen an increase of hair-colors on youth this day and had been forced to stop after Buffy and Zander had commented on it sparingly.
However one instinct triggered he could write it off, but two and his mind screamed at him for writing of the first one. The boy asked for "Extra rare" not uncommon but a rare steak sat in front of another couple and that was too rare for Giles taste, any more rare and you would be looking at raw. Only years of training kept his body from tensing and showing his suspicion in anyway, but the twitch of his finger relayed his shock has the...."creature" pulled as disgusted face after a sip of the tea. No Giles was in agreement the tea was worse then anything he could possibly make or even the teas found in the slovenly backstreets of England but the fact that the curl showed two elongated canines. A warm voice removed him from his musings as the waitress placed the food down in front of him and the smell of the lamb with mint and thick gravy made him beam at the waitress despite his confusion. "Thank you dear" He said his smile returned to him by the waitress before she skipped off again.
He cut into the meat the picture of a calm and appreciative diner, but his mind was racing at a hundred miles a minute. The man seemed so very relaxed, but then one look at Spike and even Angel showed you that vampires had a ridiculous amount of arrogance. No...no... not vampire the sun had no effect. Lycan? No the canines only showed then during the transformation. Demon? Possibility, but usually they developed in more ways then just fangs. His mind kept coming back to one answer..and then dismissing it for no one had seen a Damphir in well in all of the well recorded Watcher texts. The information on them was..sketchy to say the least. The child of a union between a human and a vampire was nearly impossible since..well since to be blunt Vampires were dead and though they could create children with other Vampires something to do with Humans being alive and vampires not tended to prevent any kind of possible pregnancy. It was assumed that (using modern deductions) the females body viewed the child as a threat and often killed it before it had a chance to grow.
However all the facts pointed in that direction even if it was the most confusing decision he had reached since deciding that a "Dancing Demon" plagued Sunnydale, but he had been right about that and he was sure that he was right about this. However that left the problem of how to approach the situation. Watcher protocol demanded that he trap the Damphir, report it and ship it off to be experimented on, but he had been through enough experiments after his "Ripper" days to know how horrible that was. All Giles really knew was that something with a Vampires blood-lust that could go out in the day was dangerous and he would have to act fast .....no matter what he decided.

There was now a slight tension to his frame, he'd heard enough on Giles from Dez to know this was a bad situation. Then he forced himself to relax eyes instead scanning the street. He knew with how low the sun was sometimes vampires tried out early. Not often but it was an occasional occurrence.
Still he couldn't help but keep glancing to Giles' direction, trying to tell just what he was doing. Could he be making a phone call, could he be about to attack him. He didn't quite know. Did he have a slayer with him that he was waiting to meet? Again he wasn't quite sure on this fact. As his steak arrived it was indeed mostly raw.
With a precision that hinted at being used to eating such and managing to remain polite in public he started to eat his meal, oh they'd made sure there were other vegetables - but more importantly in his mind view there was bread. It really was perfect to mop up the juices. He had no desire for the humans around him, not as food anyway.
He could feel his instincts kicking in again though. There was a slight shift of his braids and a soft growl came from him, very quiet. Nostrils flared a bit as his head rose away from the food. One hand was already slipping under his coat to the gun as he scanned the passing people.
Then he saw it. There a voice whispered to his mind. Swiftly then he moved to action abandoning the food, leaving the money to cover under the plate and a note of apology. Target 1 had been sighted. Almost accidentally as he'd stood drawing Trucido and Ictus from their concealed position his coat had swung round knocking the tea that had disgusted him over.
Swiftly he was moving now, gaining a better angle on the target. A shot echoed. The vampire he'd sighted was dust. He kept himself in the alleyway he'd ducked into waiting for the human panic to die down. Of course he was preparing to evade police at least. He knew a shooting would bring about suspicion. His weapons of choice were already returned to the back of his coat out of sight. He knew that to most people the slight glint of metal they'd have seen in the restaurant before he'd left they'd just put to one side as a ring or something similar.
He'd not got far, indeed he'd ducked into an alley just a shop down from the restaurant. The vampire hadn't escaped far either. No one had been hurt.

His back tensed once again wondering was the boy any danger, but the scream of magic in his mind alerted him to another presence. Glancing over he noted a vampire walking past blood lust clouding it's features and making Giles ill to look at it. Could that be what the creature was growling at? Sure vampires were territorial, but he had never seen them display too much aggression towards one another. They usually viewed Humans as the most disgusting race and banded together in the face of that. This person was causing a great deal on confusion in Giles mind and that was a mind state that he hated being in.
As the boy moved Giles resisted the urge to stand up too. He had already finished his meal and slowly drained the tea that caffeine too precious to be wasted, as he put down the cup he glanced at the bill placed on his table by the waitress as she had placed down the dinner. He left fifty dollars on top of it and stood up slipping on his coat and left the restaurant with a cheerful wave at the waitress who beamed back, the smile only increasing when she saw the fifteen euro tip he had left. This confused Giles would usually return home and research, but he was sure he wouldn't find out something he didn't already know, so going against his careful instincts he moved past the dust pile on the ground.
The creature had definitely shown the shining metal of a gun and from the way his other hand had been positioned Giles could only assume there were two guns. Vampires generally despised Human technology, but the Damphir's human blood cleared up that mystery. He had also noticed the spilling of the tea (not that he could blame him), and other things such as the obvious killing of his own kind in a skilled and quick manner, and of course the inbred ability to know where they were. It was very curious. He assumed there was some kind of grudge. Such things usually stemmed from another vampire perhaps the father? I twas rare that Vampiric females became pregnant from a human so a human pregnancy was the most common choice. The creature had also swiftly hidden from human eyes which was a common Vampiric trait however this also prompted the ideal of a routine so not a once off killing due to a grudge, or it was a highly planned killing.
His instincts led him down a dark alleyway at the side of the cafe and as he spotted the creature he offered himself a mental pat on the back, before realizing that it just made common sense to dart down here, so figuring that out was no big deal. The alleyway was dark, but Giles had been too well trained to let that bother him and he suffered from no form of night-blindness so after barely two seconds he could see as clearly as possible, without Vampiric abilities of course. The creature was definitely aware of his presence, in fact he would have worried about it's sanity had it not, but despite that he took a few moments of pause to study it. Everything from it's posture to it's dress was categorized in Giles librarian brain, before he realized that staring was rude and the silence was awkward. However he was at a complete loss over what to say to the creature, that was often the problem with instinct and adrenaline, what did one do when it had worn off.
His hands were in his pockets and with a curious head tilt he spoke "Many things about you do not add up, but I do not think you pose me any threat.. Am I wrong?" He queried, finding that he sensed no malignant aura towards him. In fact Giles was annoying himself greatly by defying the Watchers journal, but his curiosity was a hunger and until he understood the situation it would annoy him to the point of despair. He was more then ready should the creature attack but for now there was much he wanted to know and only one person who could answer them.

His journal had been removed from the pocket after Trucido had been slipped away back out of view. Quietly he settled down to check next to his map the journal circling the hotspot on the map he wanted to check out. He looked up immediately though as Giles spoke.
"My arguement is not with your kind" he stated softly. "I seek not to harm humans, and if I could I would be rid of the curse I suffer being half breed" he added on. "Instead I would rather spend time wiping out the scum that hold this city back" he shrugged a certain amount of pride to his voice though.
"The last Slayer here was injured just as I arrived, not by myself but by a vampire gang that still plagues these streets, though that's just the least of the worries here, not that the humans know it" he stated quietly shrugging though. "This is a city with a dark secret...more then likely more then one" he added on.
Slowly he stood up, yes he'd seated himself to the floor so he could really check everything out detail wise. "You caught me at the start of a patrol though," he said softly "and in this city the night life is hot.....very hot" slowly he folded the map away the journal joining it to keep it out the way as he prepared to move for his next area he wanted to go to.
"You're a watcher aren't you....Giles I believe, am I right?" he asked suddenly looking directly at him with his icey blue eyes.

Desmond had been running late after his date at the movie theaters. He had ran back to his apartment just a bit too fast for a normal human to run without tiring. He was a bit winded as he reached the lift of his flat and quickly stomped through his room. He pulled out his revolver from his night stand and pocketed a large quantity of wood tipped bullets. He had also pocketed silver brass knuckles, silver worked on most paranormal creatures not just werewolves, stakes that fit nicely through little holders he had sewn into the lining of his coat, and his sword. The sword was hidden wonderfully underneath his black leather duster. The Watcher rummaged around his flat for a little while longer, fed his cat, then ran back out of the flat and locked the large iron door behind him. Now he was in business.
"Shit, I am so late." He growled as he ran to the meeting spot Leo had selected. Luckily it was not too far from his flat. Unfortunately, he had probably missed dinner by now. Desmond picked up the pace when he heard shots being fired. He had never done a full out run before. Dez was not as fast as a vampire, but he probably would have made an Olympic runner pretty pissed off if they saw him in action. He started calling out for Leo when he was in the general area of the restaurant the two were supposed to have met at.
"Leo!" Desmond took a short cut behind one of the buildings. His revolver was out and loaded, something was around that had made the Dhampir shoot. Knowing Leo, it was probably already dead and there was no need for concern, he could hear his friend talking to someone. The Watcher rounded the back alley and emerged just behind the Dhampir. He skidded to a stop and frowned. Rupert Giles was standing in front of Leo. His dark eyes widened and his olive skin went almost white. What the hell was he doing here? Desmond had received no notice of Giles' arrival. Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit. Not only was Rupert Giles in the alleyway, he was standing in front of Desmond's best friend, a bloody Dhampir. Great.
"...." He did not speak right away, his heart had just started beating again, he had to wait for the blood to return to his brain before he could even think of what to do or say next.

However the organization fit into the picture he was sure of it, but just what it was building up to show eluded his mind despite the fact being laid out so plainly. The map did not show a territory but instead perhaps a route, he was regaled with memories of Buffy and how she had started planning her route, but them fallen into a system that was easy in the small city of Sunnydale. If that was to be believe Giles was highly concerned. Trusting the fate of humans with a creature that suffered from the same problems as those it killed was deadly. He had seen Spike and Angel fall back into bad habits too many times to believe that anyone could defy the course that nature had set out for them.
As the boy spoke the idea rotted itself even deeper in his mind. Yes he wished to become a Slayer, but looking at him now Giles could not say if this was wise or as foolish. "Curse is an interesting way of phrasing it, but even that might be too light a sentiment, after a curse can be lifted." He said calmly the boys hatred was only a start, nothing could be believed until he understood further. "And your acceptance of Humans is....understandable.." He admitted trying not to sound patronizing but unwilling to state what he knew where there was a risk of others hearing. Yes a lot of this boys goals came from hatred of his own kind and even hatred of himself. To leave such a boy unmonitored was highly dangerous self-loathing caused even the most intelligent of people to make stupid mistakes, and with such powers Giles could not allow a human to be harmed in the aftereffect of such a decision.
The knowledge that the boy knew of the previous Slayer shocked Giles more then he would have liked. The boys heart seemed to be in the right place and Giles entertained a twinge of guilt over having such low thoughts about him, but it was a Slayers job to destroy evil and it was their Watchers job to ensure the safety of the people as a Slayer worked and to ensure the safety of the Slayer. This situation could turn dangerous. "Yes I was drafted in for that reason, with this place being such a hotspot it is important that more then one competent Slayer is at work." He stated resisting the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose. He was tired, dreadfully so and to stumble upon such a situation...well he would handle it better with either a better nights sleep or some decent tea. "Yes I understand that and I apologize, but I think I shall have to delay you a while longer. I understand your concern for the people and I admire that but you must understand that the situation has become difficult. "
He wasn't lying an unregistered slayer was bad enough (He had only been informed of three potentials) but an unregistered Slayer with had mixed blood put Giles in such a difficult situation. "Correct." He said with a nod "On both counts, my name is Rupert Giles, but most just refer to me as Giles" He amended realizing that he had barely given the boy anything with his first answer. Before he could open his mouth to speak again and inquire as to the boys own name a harsh and breathless cry of "Leo!" was heard and the thunder of footsteps revealed another man to Giles. The face was familiar and he was sure it was from a meeting..no a training group.Yes Desmond...Harker yes he had a relation of course to the Famous Johnathon Harker.
This certainly made the situation more complicated and Giles was now sure that he was going to get a headache. So he had a unregistered Damphir Slayer and a Watcher that was keeping him secret...if he did decide to report them the paperwork on this would drive even Giles demented. He allowed his arm to lift and massaged the bridge of his nose. Whether any information had come from the ex-Slayer was now irrelevant, as it was clear that most of the information around hunting, routes, etc must have come from the Watcher. "Perhaps I spoke too soon when I said the situation was difficult..I barely knew what difficult meant" He quipped allowing his tiredness to creep into his voice making it strained. And here he had actually thought that life would become easier once he left the Scoobies behind.

While curses can generally be lifted, not all can...some however can be managed. It is the route I opted, with a strong reason to not feed on humans," he stated softly. He'd ensured he'd gain a strong deterrant not to feed on them. "If the memory of being the cause of your mothers death isn't a strong enough reason to never give in again, at least not when humans are involved," he'd lowered his head then, trying to hide the grief. The one moment of weakness that had cost him everything.
"But you are right, it is not so much a curse as an illness. One that can never be truly cured, but instead merely managed. If cutting off a limb would rid me of it, I would do so without question, but alas it will not" he had sighed slightly at that.
He listened intently to what Giles had to say. "This place is a hotspot for a reason. It is an uncommon occurence but during my time here...I have strong reason to believe this is not a normal place, even by standards set by those used to handling the abnormal," he commented quietly. "I do what I can do here, hunting those that would harm humans and dispatching them quickly. More then I can say for one slayer present," his mind had drifted to his meeting of Ophelia, again his upper lip had curled into obvious disgust at that memory as well.
"I fear that this city, or maybe events prior to it have more then corrupted one mind who is meant to protect humans. If they had not been human themselves.... well there would have been a bullet with their name on it heading in their direction," his voice was bitter. Oh he didn't particularly like the red head at all.
Leo's head had turned at Dez's yell giving a hiss, hey he had rather keen hearing. That yell had been a little on the painful side. Slowly he was weighing up the risks. Three people gathered wasn't good. It would lure anything around to them like a shark to a bloody kill. Still was it safe. "Good evening Dez" he stated calmly his voice quiet and soft.
He glanced around again, on edge now. Hey he didn't normally get three people in a group, this was including himself. Normally at a push it was just him and Dez. "However...with three it is not safe to stand and talk here. There will be anything in the area with a taste for human flesh upon this spot like sharks to a bloody corpse thrown into the sea. If there is no place nearer..... may I suggest we retreat to my own abode?" he spoke softly, almost hesitantly. Dez he had no qualms allowing in. However Giles....
He couldn't read Giles well, he'd only just met him. He didn't think he was in any danger but...there was still a risk there. "Maybe what we all need is proper tea, brewed the correct way while we work this situation out like civilised...beings," he finished almost saying humans but changing that to beings. After all, no matter how he wished...he wasn't human.

Desmond realized the gravity of his choice to keep Leo hidden from the Council. Dez knew how the council could be, sometimes they made choices that Dez did not agree with. He did not want one of those disagreeable choices to be about exterminating Leo. Out of all the Watchers in the council, he was hoping that Giles would be the most sympathetic and understanding to Desmond and Leo's friendship, considering Giles' past. Desmond knew what he had done was against whatever rules had been established in the Council, however, Dez felt Leo was worth it. Desmond owed Leo a lot, he would return the favor however he could.
This meeting did not look like it had put Giles in the best of moods. Though, maybe he was already in a bad mood before. Normally Dez would have resorted to humor and sarcasm to get himself out of an awkward situation, but not this one. He had to be quiet and respectful. He could not mess up and give Giles any reason to get angrier.
"Mr. Giles, I agree with Leo. Before we decide to do anything else, we should retreat to Leo's place where its safer. We can relax, settle down with some proper tea..." He had managed to collect his thoughts enough to stand firmly and speak clear coherent sentences again. "Then we can talk." The Watcher added.

"Yes i understand why that would spark a desire to not fail in that goal." He stated calmly before pulling the coat tighter around him. The sun had fully set now and with it it brought a slight nip to the air that Giles had not accounted for when he first left the house. Though he had not assumed that he would be out this long, infact he was completely unarmed as he had assumed he was out too early for that. A gentle sigh pushed his lips out releasing a breath. "It is important to never forget that nearly everything can be turned into an advantage. Nearly being an important part of that sentence, if you prove that everything you have told me is true then you have found the advantage Have you not?" He asked calmly his paternal nature disliking an expression of such abandonment on the face of someone so young.
Giles stiffened as he realized he had almost let more slip then even most common Slayer knew in the face of the boys knowledge. Yes it was not normal infact a witch working with the Council had judged that with a higher fluctuation of magic then over most hotspots it was an incredibly large Hellhole, but Giles was suspicious people seemed to be commonly attacked in more then one spot prompting him to believe that there might be a cluster rather then a gaping crack. "Yes the Council would agree with you on that, but unfortunately only time with tell in a situation such as this." He said with a light scowl, before pausing at his next words. "Corrupted? I hope you don't mean a Slayer? If things are to believed we will need all the Slayers we can get." He said shock evident in his voice.
It seemed unbelievable to him that any Slayer could go truly bad. Faith had done it, but she was as much a daughter to him as Buffy or Willow and he still entertained hopes that she would return to their side and fight against the dark once again rather then for it. If there was a Slayer acting up he would have to find her and judge it for his own eyes as hear-say could never be fully trusted, he could only hope that she just needed support and she would snap out of it. A dark Slayer was a dangerous thing indeed. This night was turning out to be an eyeopener and he had the funniest feeling that he would have a to do list as long as himself before the night was truly out.
Giles removed his finger from his brow, but was tempted to restart massaging after the vivid description placed before him by Leo. The graphic picture was precise you he did not want his thoughts to settle into the area of Slaying again. Instead he sipped up his coat carefully and placed his hands inside his pockets. This discussion was starting to fell like a teacher giving out to two bold students. He admired them for stepping up and accepting their fates, however part of him demanded that it was expected of them long ago, however unlike most Giles was not the type to prattle on like a broken record he did things only with the best intentions of those around him in mind and if they could give a good reason he was not against making a choice to aid others, but if the reason was selfish...he was still quite unsure over how he would react.
The word tea floated around in his mind like a oasis and he gave a quick nod. "Alright I will not be unreasonable, and you run no risk of me selling you two out if you have a good reason." He stepped back and looked between the two before speaking. "You may explain yourselves, but should you lie know that I will find out and I will not hesitate to expose you." He said before raising an arm and gesturing for Leo to lead the way. "I feel like some cranky headmaster." He muttered before following the two out of the alleyway he could only hope their reasons were sound and they bloody understood the gravity of the situation they were in.

He couldn't help it, it was instinctive for him to want to protect humans. Even if they were Watchers who probably should be able to protect themselves. He was alert already listening and scenting.
He'd already tied the braids back fully switching him to being human instead of well half blood as the vampire side was trapped within them. He knew it was even more of a threat but still, in a way it was ... safer that way. Both Trucido and Ictus were drawn and he knew both were loaded. He was ready come what may.
Slowly his icey blue eyes scanned their surroundings, trying to get any warning.

Desmond sighed in relief when Giles agreed to hear them out. It was quite a miracle. Desmond had never spent a lot of time with Giles, but he respected him as a Watcher and as a human being. The two would have to be brutally honest, but he felt like his relationship with Leo was something Giles would come to appreciate, or at least understand and agree to keep quiet. Desmond gave Giles a wide boyish smile.
"Thank you, Sir. We swear to give you nothing but the truth."
Desmond had a lot to lose if the meeting with Giles went sour. Leo could run away and move to a different city, Desmond had done something illegal and would have to face consequences. He knew Leo would not leave him to rot, but still, it was unnerving to think about. Not to mention Desmond would have spoiled his family's name. Dez had learned compassion and friendship in the real world, he did not see every supernatural being as evil. They were all just trying to live in the world they were thrust into. Desmond's brother's slayer had been turned into a vampire. Yes, she had been turned into a monster, but Desmond had seen her as a good person. Not every monster needed to die, many were evil and would ultimately die from their actions, but the good ones should not have needed to be segregated and observed like specimens. Maybe Desmond had been living in this Hellhole too long and seen too many good monsters die. Then again, these were all very dangerous thoughts. He was a Watcher, to put it cynically, his entire job was based on training a killing machine and reporting monsters (which he did). Maybe there was something wrong with Dez. He had been burned before, maybe he really did have to start distancing himself from people.
The Watcher nodded to Leo then drew his revolver. "Alright." He moved up to the front of the line and cautiously began the trip to Leo's apartment complex. His dark eyes scanned over every alleyway and silhouette as the group made their way down to the river and over one of the many bridges that linked the city together.
"By the way, sir..." He looked over his shoulder to address Giles. "In regards to the Slayer Leo was speaking of, in my professional opinion, she is bad news."

He was not a sensible man when angered and the discovery he had made was fraying on his nerves. He was the most senior Watcher in this area and he had accepted that he would have to oversee not only his own training but others too. He had no intention of smothering the young Watchers but it was his duty. He simply wanted this situation resolved one way or the other so he could focus on the young Slayer who needed his assistance. he had already delayed going to her for too long because he needed an area to bring her to and this was not helping his stress level. Mortalitas was too dangerous a place for an untrained Slayer...no matter how much their egos made them believe they were invincible.
Giles resisted the urge to grit his teeth, knowing that they were doing it more to ease the nervousness they felt then any form of patronization. For Pete's sake, he had been a Watcher since before Dez was bloody born (he could not tell from a glance how old Leo was) and he had no intention of being coddled, guarded and frogmarched by them. Massaging the bridge of his nose he let out a deep breath to calm himself, they were not deserving of his anger."If she has strayed that far I will have to meet with her. However if she has harmed humans in her switch I will have to deal with her which ever way is best suited to the situation." He stated before dropping his hand and stepping out of the formation. He had learnt early on that Watcher were rarely ever attacked. They seemed to appear to creatures as a tiger in a cage, not immediately dangerous enough to attack because you never knew how subdued they were or just what was lurking behind the facade of a guardian. Giles assumed it created a fear and awe in them and it was more common that is loved ones were attacked then anyone took on a full-force attack. Slayers were more immediately dangerous and were often attacked upon first sight."So we are heading to the Residential area all you needed to do was tell me that. No matter how honorable your intentions are I have been in this game long enough to care for myself. I have also studied this area enough to know we are heading in the direction of a bunch of deserted apartment blocks." He said sighing as he pulled ahead of them and increased the speed of his walk slightly. "You will have to tell me which of the three blocks you are at home in though." He stated fixing the glasses on the bridge of his nose as the apartments appeared as they passed a hill.
He was tempted to remind them that he was being considerate by letting them fight this on their own ground rather then dragging them to the shop and forcing them to argue their case in uncomfortable and new surroundings, but he was not interested in forcing them on any kind of a guilt trip, perhaps if they did not understand the gravity of the situation but their faces showed they most certainly did. He paused at the crossroad to the three blocks and paused for a second before deciding that two of the paths were too overgrown and moving down the route to the first one. Once they arrived at the door he paused his English manners forcing him to wait outside like some Vampire until he had been invited in. No matter how annoyed and tired he was it would not do to be rude. All he wanted right now was tea...proper tea, but these two had shown their youth too much for him to know there would be some here. He could only pray that all hope was not lost or he might be forced to go make a cup himself before sitting down to listen.

He'd also expected the vampires and demons that had indeed ended up with a present from his guns, namely a bullet. Yes they'd tried to attack more then once.
As they neared his apartment block he'd moved. Silently he slipped to the front nodding to Dez as he passed silently holding the door open "Please no need to wait invitation," he said softly. To look at the ground floor the place looked just as abandoned as the exterior. The apartment block he'd chosen was partially blocked from immediate view by the other two. Silently he called the lift walking into it inserting a key into the lock on the lift and turning it. He wouldn't actually press a button until both Dez and Giles were in the lift.
"I need to make a call to the first floor by the way at some point, ensure nothing human has been trapped in one of the lines of defence I've set up," he said quietly. Hey he wasn't proud of that. But he had to give himself some form of defence. "I don't intentionally let humans die, its just that well, most don't quite survive the maze and getting lost in it if I don't check it," he said quietly.
"With being a half breed I get a lot from vampires as well trying to find me, either to force me to become a Blood slave, or to remove a threat," he shook his head saddened.
The apartment block itself at least on the lower floors, and even the lift, looked purposefully run down and shabby. Leo had left it like that for the sole reason of ensuring that should anyone wander in they'd just take it on face value as it were. |
