His pale blue eyes looked around as he sat in the solitude of the reserve. He'd hunted here tonight. Nearby, hidden in bushes was the corpse of a mule deer the only sign that it had slaked a half bloods lust for blood were the ripped wounds into its neck. Parts of muscle and sinew hung loose. Fur was mangled and there were clear wounds that showed where claw like fingernails had dragged in.
He was soft and calm right now, his bloodlust was slaked by the deers' death. It meant that he wouldn't have to worry about human blood causing him to wish for them. He didn't want to face the consequences of feeding from humans. It was very uncomfortable to resist that urge, but it was something he did almost voluntarily. Almost. There was a rather nice encouragement of if he didn't feed off them he wouldn't end up vomiting.
He'd sat himself down by the lake, enjoying the silence. While there was the soft lull of traffic sounds there was nothing like it was during the day. The moon reflected off the softly rippling service, the only other sounds were the sounds of the night. Muscles twitched a bit beneath the otherwise alabaster skin. Now the blood was kicking in fully, giving him that rush. While if it was from a human the rush would be more, and more addictive, the deers blood just brought him to a heightened sense of greater energy.
Fingers flexed instinctively looking for something to grasp. Looking for something to do. Suddenly almost impulsively he moved to his feet, movements fluid, the black leather short coat he was wearing shifting briefly away from his body. No top covered the smooth skin beneath that stretched taut over defined muscles, allowing the slender muscled porcelain hued skin to be seen, almost glowing in the silvered light of the moon.
Braids shivered of their own accord, and the roots of the silvered hair were darker, almost black. Suddenly the male took off breaking into a smooth run, legs moving easily encased in tight black jeans. He was racing towards the tree line planning to do an impromptu unarmed work out within the forest itself. This plan was altered by a group of vampires suddenly bursting out from the forest, obviously mistaking the half blood for a human.
Swiftly he moved to fight kicking the first vampire to the face dodging another blow drawing his gun and blasting a vampires head to nothingness the rest of the corpse dusting immediately. However before he could shoot the second one a sharp blow struck his back sending him staggering forward with a pained grunt. |

Kyra had decided to go for a walk down to the nature reserve for the evening. It was warm enough that she only wore shorts and a dark t-shirt, and her hair was tied up in a neat ponytail. On her back was a small backpack with some magic materials, water and a quick snack. She was glad she had worn hiking boots for the long trek she had made outside of the city. Her car was parked somewhere near the reserve's entrance.
The witch knelt carefully beside a beautiful yellow flower. It resembled a mix between an iris and a lily. Its Latin name translated into 'tear of the sun'. It was a delicate flower and only grew in one specific spot in the nature reserve and only bloomed near the full moon. It was thought to be the sun's tear because it glowed a beautiful golden yellow colour in the moonlight. There was an entire bed of them before her. She only took one flower and dug it up by the roots so she could save it and grow a few more and hopefully preserve the beautiful plant. It would take a while to do that. Practically, one petal was worth a lot of money and carried a lot of magical properties, she would dry the flower when it was close to dying then sell it. She was almost done lifting the plant out of the ground when she heard a gun shot. Kyra gasped. Her green eyes scanned the landscape. She knew it was dangerous to be out in the reserve by herself, but she needed the plant that night before it started to wilt. She hurriedly dug out the rest of the plant, packed it in her flower pot and carefully nestled the flowerpot in her arms. Then, Kyra started to run away.
Unfortunately, she brought herself directly into the fray of Leo and the Vampires. She saw the creature that had struck Leo from behind. She gasped and called out to her friend.
"Leo!" No doubt that attracted the attention of the other vampires. That, and she held a glowing beacon in her hand. "... oh.. shit." She realized her mistake when a vampire appeared in front of her. The witch took a few steps back and thrust her arm out. The silver bangles on her arms started to chime as the magical energy surged through them. Suddenly, the vampire erupted into flames. The entire area began to smell of brimstone. The only quick fire spell Kyra was extremely effective with was summoning Hell Fire. In large quantities, it stunk like the fires and brimstone of hell, naturally, a demon taught her how to use that spell.
"You okay, Leo?!" While the vampire ran around the field and slowly burned to death, Kyra took the opportunity to check on her friend's condition.

"Oh yeah I'm absolutely awesome, y'know its quite fun almost forgetting how to breath when half of you needs oxygen," he commented, trying to make a joke of it all but the joke falling....flat.
"You're not hurt are you?" he enquired suddenly the silver haired male growing concerned. While he was sure Kyra could indeed look after herself that wasn't exactly normal circumstances. His nose twitched at the residual stink of fire and brimstone "That was demon magic you used," he mumbled softly. It was a logical reasoning.
Slowly he shifted stretching. While there were still a few sore muscles due to his recent blood intake it wasn't taking him as long to recover. He'd fed recently so it made sense that he'd gain some healing benefits from it. The recent feed also showed in the fact he had colour to his features. Currently he was still twitching a bit mind....he still had a bit too much energy.

The witch smiled widely as the Dhampir semi stated he was alright. She patted Leo on the shoulder and shook her head when he asked how she was.
"I'm okay, not even a scratch. Even my plant remains unscathed." She held up the golden flower to show him. "But... you and Dez have to teach me how to fight. I might need that skill soon."
Kyra frowned when he mentioned the demon magic. Kyra knew she was not supposed to use demon magic, hell, she was not even sure a normal human was supposed to be able to, but she had and she could. She was calling forth the flames of Hell and Satan himself. Her brother, the priest, would have blown a gasket if he found out, he would have insisted she give up her magic. He would have said what she was doing was bad, she would go to hell for using magic, let alone using Hellfire. She did not want her abilities advertised. 200 years ago, she would have been burned at the stake for her abilities, besides, there were rumors that witch hunters still existed.
Her ability to use Hellfire sometimes worried her, but on other days like today she was grateful to have it. The fire was evil extremely dangerous and more intense than most infernos on earth. Yet, Kyra was able to light a bloody candle with Hellfire without even burning down her shop. Mind you, her shop smelled something fierce if she lit all the candles that way. Maybe it was because she was living over a hellhole that her magical abilities were increased.
"Yeah.. it was demon magic.. just don't advertise it okay?" She paused for a moment. Wait.. why was Leo here? "So, what are you doing out here at this time of night? Are there any more vamps out there?"

He wasn't amused at the use of demon powers. They were dangerous, didn't she understand this. "Never know until they appear" he stated softly tensing at the hand on his shoulder. He was uncomfortable with such contact giving a twitch to shrug it off again.
"I came out as I like the peace and quiet," he added on not wanting to state that 'oh and also its a great hunting ground for animals so I can feed every so often properly without relying on a vampire'. He didn't know how Kyra would take it. Slowly he pulled away starting to walk off. He didn't care he was being rude, he knew there were no vampires in this area.
He just wanted some alone time. Some peace for once. He couldn't help the laugh mentally at himself, unaware that it had escaped physically as well, a bitter sound of self-loathing. Peace. What right did a half blood, no souled Dhampir have to peace? He walked the good and narrow path? Maybe. But he was no saint, he'd made mistakes. Mistakes he didn't feel forgiven from.
Silently he kept walking, wanting away from Kyra, away from everything in this world that could hurt him. Sadly he forgot he couldn't walk away from himself.
