She looked up to him and smiled bashfully. "Oh, just wishing momma had left me some information about what to expect." She shook her head softly, shaking the embarassment off. "I guess though, when you have limited time to imprint information, you pick the important stuff." She looked around at the rather large amount of people running around finally and sighed a little. She envied the humans. Sure they had vampires and lycans among other creatures preying on them, but they seemed to live rather happy lives oblivious to it. Ignorance...it had its uses...
As they rounded a corner she looked around at the buildings this time. She hadn't seen much of the city so she felt a bit like a tourist. After a while in silence she smiled to him and asked "So, what are we going to watch?" She had no idea what there was to watch, she hardly even watched TV and what news she did get she got from old town papers that cater to the non human crowds. This catered right to her tastes though. Any kind of art fed her in a way, though it didn't replace her need for magic, it did push the realization of hunger away for a while.

Desmond thought for a moment on what the Aeon had said. He nodded like what Ashley had said made perfect sense to him. He really had to brush up on his aeon info.. or maybe he just had to get more active in probing Ashley for information. He held her close to him as they turned the corner then crossed the street. He was taking Ashley to an old movie house. The kind where they still played silent films with a guy playing the sound track on the piano. Desmond loved those movies. He remembered the first time he had watched 'Cleopatra' starring the late Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton when he was 14. He had been heart broken to know how old the movie was, and how different Elizabeth Taylor had looked. He had suffered a same reaction when he had gotten in to Monty Python. The old movies were the cutting edge innovation, they were THE originals. Everything that existed now had some sort of influence from the classics.
"Well... you've seen television, right? It's kind of like that. Except in the movies I'm going to take you to.. the colour is either really bad, or its in black and white. It is all rather interesting. The movies pretty much tell a story, rather than reading it, you're watching it. Sometimes, they can be fictional... other times.. it tries to retell stories and make them entertaining." Some of the movies did a horrible job at recreating history, but he had learned to let it go... Sometimes. "Except, its bad etiquette to talk during a movie." He paused. Maybe she knew some of this stuff already and he was just looking like an ass. "Sorry if I am over explaining it."
They had reached their destination a short walk away. Dez had not been to the theater in a very long time. The theater looked like the olden day theaters. The box office was placed outside and a young woman with many piercings sat in the clerk's seat. She looked underpaid and unamused. The interior of the theater had a red carpet and dim lighting. The walls were wooden with gold accents on the wall sconces and on the modern concession stand. In the lobby was a miniature museum of all the old cinema equipment that was used from the 20's, 30's, and 40's. The theater did not look very packed tonight. Perhaps it was for the best.
On the wall near the entrance to the theater were the old posters from the movies that were playing. Akira Kurosawa's 1954 "Seven Samurai" was playing. "Cleopatra" was playing. "Spartacus" starring Charlton Heston was the one Desmond had considered for Ashley. It was light, loosely based off if historical events, but it had a somewhat crappy ending. Instead they were going to see "Singin' in the Rain". When he and his brother Colin were younger, Colin used to come into Dez' room early in the morning and sing the "Good morning" song, as he used to call it. He figured it was a pretty good choice for a first time movie watcher.
Desmond got in line to buy the tickets for the show. "We're going to see Singin' in the Rain."

Asri listened to his explanation. Yes, he did over explain a bit, but she didn't mind. When he mentioned TV she laughed a little. "Yes, I've seen it a bit, though I never pay too much attention..." As he continued she just listened and smiled. It sounded lovely. What he described sounded like it would have much more character than the rather uninteresting noise that shed seen on her brief run-ins with a television. walking with him she saw the theater and smiled. "Looks like i fit right in here." She laughed a bit, fluffing out her skirt. She then looked back at dez once they ended up inline.
"Really?" She seemed a bit childish at hearing that. She may never have seen a movie before, but other Aeon she'd met on her plane had brought bits and pieces of it back with them. "I've always wanted to see that!" She realized how she was acting and blushed, again with the bashful smile. "Sorry, I just...get excited..." She laughed nervously, before going back to looking around again, grip on his arm tightening a bit subconsciously. She just realized where she was, how many people were potentially there....all the faint magic readings she was sensing....ignore it, ignore it, you'll be fine soon...

Dez placed his arm around her when he felt her grip getting tighter. ".... Hey, I'm glad you're excited about this." He figured she was experiencing a certain hunger that Dez had never felt. He had a feeling it was like putting an all you could eat buffet table in front of someone on a hunger strike. Extremely tempting. He hoped she would calm down when the movie started playing.
Desmond paid for their tickets and led her in to the theater with his arm still around the Aeon. The theater was still dimly lit like he expected it to be. The lobby smelled of popcorn and sweets. Out of respect for what he figured Ashley was going through, the Watcher chose to forgo his favourite movie snack. He led her straight into their theater.
He led her to somewhere near the back of the theatre where they would be alone. The chairs were the same old small wooden chairs that had come with the original theater. Reupholstered fabric cushions ensured that a 2 hour long movie would not be too uncomfortable. There was a white wall on the opposite wall of the theater for the movie to project on to. Singing in the Rain was a 'talkie' film. Dez could see the black modern surround sound system lining the upper edges of the dimly lit room.
Soon the movie was playing. The theater was not packed, there were only a few older couples sitting near the middle rows, Dez and Ashley were safe.
Just as Gene Kelly was about to kiss Debbie Reynolds good night, before Kelly sung 'Singin in the Rain', Dez put his arm around Ashley. He had been so into the movie that he had not even really noticed he'd done it.

Asri felt herself growing more relaxed as the movie played. She'd let her arm loosen from his, though she still kept contact with it. The semblance of touch, while not the real thing, was better than nothing. She'd have mentioned to him that it was fine for him to go get popcorn or something, if she'd known that's what was done at movies. Eventually she became so engrosed by the film that she didn't even notice that they were in a theater. To her it felt as if she were a part of it. Another side effect of being an Aeon, art tends to draw you in.
Durring the scene where the two kissed and Dez put his arm around her, she had only perifferally felt the pressure across her shoulders. The two signals crossed in her mind and she soon found that she'd kissed Dez's cheek. Thank whatever higher power granted her the common sense to take the precaution of latex lip gloss. She just blushed and turned back around, watching the movie, though she didn't move his arm. She really just didn't want him to think she was feeding off him.

Desmond loved this movie, he was glad he was able to do this with Ashley too. She was nice enough, and he did not think an Aeon would have too many friends, maybe she did, he just had not seen or heard of any other Aeons in the city. Dez had not gotten out in a really long time, the life of a watcher was not boring, but it certainly was not relaxing.
Dez felt Ashley move in to kiss him on the cheek. This time, he had not felt the pain that he had experienced the last time she touched him. His cheeks went flushed and he blushed. Luckily the dim theater lights made it very hard to spot what effect Ashley's peck on the cheek had on him.
The Watcher turned to the Aeon and smirked. "So we're okay to kiss then, are we?" He figured she had something going on, maybe it was her lipstick, or something else that prevented her from absorbing his magic again. That could come in handy later, assuming their 'get together' went well. He had no intention of going out with Ashley, he was smarter than that. But, he was all for kissing a lady good night. Unless of course, she wanted to kiss him again.
Desmond sat back in the chair and winked at her. He pulled her closer to him for the rest of the movie.
